Grace is God’s anointing to help you get through any trial or tribulation with composure.

His grace will give you patience during times of suffering and afflictions.

His grace will sustain you through lean times and difficult times in your life.

If it were not for the grace of God, where would we be?

His grace helps you get through the storms of life successfully.

His grace will enable you to stand strong even in the midst of grief, loss, sorrow or mourning.

His grace has sustaining and keeping power. His grace will empower you to stand strong during the trials in this life, and successfully get through each and every obstacle and affliction that arises.

There is nothing we go through that His grace cannot sustain us.

His grace is given to us freely. It’s an anointing that comes on a person when going through afflictions in this life.

His grace is there during the good times and especially the bad times. Your afflictions and trials are temporary and will eventually be a part of your past rather than your present or future.

Your future is sunny and bright because of God’s great grace He bestows on all His children. You have a happy future to look forward to, in spite of your current circumstances or how long the trial has been going on.

Eventually, all trials have an expiration date. Keep that in mind. Your affliction won’t last forever or be permanent. “This too shall pass.”

Rehearse all the things God has delivered you from in the past.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from them ALL.

Stand back and see the salvation of the Lord. Be still and know that He is God. The trial you are facing won’t last forever. It will soon have an expiration date and pass.

If you are feeling distressed over a trial, health issues, a relationship or your financial situation, hold on tight to the Lord.

Eventually you will get through the distress and joy will come. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

Charis is a Greek word generally meaning "grace" in the New Testament. The Strong's Concordance defines it as "graciousness, benefit, favor, gift, grace, joy, liberality, pleasure, or thanks."

It is especially used for a kindness or favor bestowed on someone who is ill-deserving, such as of a master toward his servants or of Holy God toward sinful mankind.

Charis encapsulates the saving work of Jesus Christ, offering forgiveness, inheritance, and God's presence, available to all who receive it humbly.

From the Old Testament

Charis is a Greek word and therefore found in the New Testament.

From the New Testament

Charis is used over one hundred and fifty times in the New Testament and is most often simply translated as "grace" but has also been translated as "favor," "thanks," and "pleasure."

Charis as favor:  The Gospel of Luke records Gabriel telling Mary, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God" (Luke 1:30).

We also read that Jesus "increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man" (Luke 2:52).

Charis expresses the idea of kindness or approval both from God and from other humans.

Charis as thanks: This can especially be seen in the phrase "thanks be to God" as seen in Romans 6:171 Corinthians 15:57, and 2 Corinthians 9:15, among others. When God bestows His favor or blessing upon us, we desire to return joy and goodwill toward Him. That bestowing of joy and our feeling of goodwill toward God is translated as "thanks."

Charis as a specific gift: In 1 Corinthians 16:3, Paul refers to the monetary offering collected to be given to the church in Jerusalem as "your gift to Jerusalem" using the Greek word charis. In Ephesians 3:7, Paul refers to his calling as a minister "according to the gift of God's grace." He says in Romans 12:6 that believers have "gifts that differ according to the grace given to us." The word "grace" in these passages that refer to specific callings or giftings is the word Charis in the original Greek.

Charis as contrasting a reward that could be rightly earned through works with the undeserved blessing God extends to believers: Romans 11:6 states, “But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.”

Paul reiterates in 2 Timothy 1:9 that God “saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began.”

Grace, which is the word Charis in the original text of these passages, is differentiated from fair compensation, highlighting its meaning as “undeserved kindness.”

Charis is the word that encapsulates the saving work of Jesus Christ. It refers to His death on the cross, the forgiveness that death affords, His resurrection that ensures believers' future inheritance, and the presence of God's own Spirit working in our hearts currently.

Ephesians 2:5–6 explains, “Even when we were dead in our trespasses, [God] made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

In Titus 2:11, Paul succinctly writes, “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people.”

In 2 Thessalonians 2:16 he wrote that God “loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace.”

The word “grace” in these contexts actually refers to the work of Jesus and all the benefits that work affords to believers. Some have used the acronym "God's Riches at Christ's Expense" to describe this understanding of grace.

Charis as general blessing and goodwill: Hebrews 4:16 calls for believers to “with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

In this context Charis is the blessing of help in a time of need. In 1 Timothy 1:13–14, Paul shares, “I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.”

Charis was the blessing of mercy and the gift of faith and extension of God's love that Paul received from the Lord.

Implications for Today:

Charis, this grace, is not just for Paul. Like the author of Hebrews, Paul believed grace is for every believer. He wrote in 2 Corinthians 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”

This assertion that God extends grace to all believers also explains why Paul opened nearly every one of his letters wishing, “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,” and why he closed almost every letter, “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.” (Galatians 1:3 and 6:18).

Charis, meaning grace, favor, or undeserved kindness, is available from God for all people who would humble themselves before Him to receive it. James quoted Proverbs 3:34 using the word  Charis  in  James 4:6 declaring, “But he gives more grace.”

Therefore, it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” May we humble ourselves and receive God's grace.

Charis is primarily translated as "grace" but also encompasses meanings such as favor, thanks, pleasure, and gift. It reflects God's kindness, approval, and blessings both towards humans and from humans towards God.

Charis can be used to denote specific gifts and callings from God, such as Paul's ministry and various spiritual gifts among believers.

Charis encapsulates the saving work of Jesus Christ, emphasizing that salvation is not earned through works but is freely given by God's grace.

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,

5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth.

2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

1 Timothy 1:14-17

14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Titus 3:4-7

4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Philemon 3-6

3 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers,

Hebrews 4:14-16

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 12:15

15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Hebrews 13:25

25 Grace be with you all. Amen.

James 4:6-7

6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1 Peter 1:2-10

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

1 Peter 3:5-8

5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

1 Peter 4:10

10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

1 Peter 5:5-10

5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

2 Peter 1:2-10

2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

2 Peter 3:18

18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

2 John 3

3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Revelation 1:4-8

4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from Him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the Seven Spirits which are before His Throne;

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

7 Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.

8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning, and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 22:21

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
