Water Baptism
After
you have accepted Jesus Christ to come into your heart and are saved, redeemed and
born again, the Bible commands us to follow the Lord in water baptism.
The
Bible mentions being baptized in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost in
Matthew 28:19.
The
Bible also mentions being baptized in the Name of Jesus. Acts 2:38; Acts 8:16
Both
are Scriptural.
The
Bible emphasizes water baptism by total immersion, but the Bible also mentions
the water of sprinkling to cleanse the conscience.
Both
ways (total immersion or sprinkling) are Scriptural.
Colossians
2:12
Buried
with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with Him through the faith of
the operation of God, who hath raised Him from the dead.
Hebrews
10:22
Let
us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
The
first time I got water baptized by immersion was when I was 10 years old.
I
had received Jesus as my Lord and Savior at the early age of 6 years old, then
at age 10 when I had more of an understanding about water baptism, I got
baptized at the Assemblies of God church close to where we used to live. I grew up in Antioch, California (60 miles
east of San Francisco).
Then
several years later I got water baptized by total immersion again at Family
Worship Center about 20 miles from our home in Concord, California.
In
this case, I was baptized a second time for the purpose of re-dedication and
entering into my ministry calling to teach the Word.
