What is Heaven Like?
Heaven is North of the
Earth (Isaiah 14:13), far beyond our galaxy.
Heaven is a round world,
millions of times larger than Earth. When God created Earth, He patterned it
after Heaven. Much of what is in Heaven is also in the Earth. Earth is a copy
and shadow of Heaven in many ways (Hebrews 8:5, NKJV).
Heaven has an ocean,
called the Crystal Sea (also called the Sea of Glass) in Revelation 4:6.
The capital city is called
New Jerusalem (Revelation 3:12, 21:2). This is where God has set up His Throne.
It is the most Holy city in Heaven and Earth. It is also known as the “Lamb’s
Wife” (Revelation 21:9), coming down out of Heaven adorned for her Husband
(Revelation 21:2).
The City is built like a
square, and is 1500 miles in length, 1500 miles in height, and 1500 miles in
width (Revelation 21:16, AMP).
The City is constructed of
pure gold, translucent like glass (Revelation 21:18), and the walls of the City
are jasper (Revelation 21:18).
The foundations of the
wall are garnished with all manner of precious stones (Revelation 21:19).
The first foundation of
the wall is jasper. The second foundation is sapphire. The third foundation is
chalcedony. The fourth foundation is emerald (Revelation 21:19).
The fifth foundation is
sardonyx. The sixth foundation is sardius. The seventh foundation is
chrysolite. The eighth foundation is beryl. The ninth foundation is topaz. The
tenth foundation is chrysoprasus. The eleventh foundation is jacinth. The
twelfth foundation is amethyst (Revelation 21:20).
The names of the twelve
apostles of the Lamb are written or engraved on the foundations of the wall
(Revelation 21:14). In place of Judas Iscariot’s name, is Paul the Apostle’s
name, along with the eleven other apostles of Jesus Christ. These apostles
include: Paul, Peter, Andrew, James the son of Zebedee, John, Philip,
Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus and Simon
the Canaanite (Matthew 10:2-4).
The twelve gates are
twelve pearls (each gate is made out of a single pearl). The street of the City
is pure gold, like transparent glass (Revelation 21:21).
The gates of the City are
not shut during the day, and there is no night there (Revelation 21:25).
There are three gates on
the north side, three gates on the east side, three gates on the south side,
and three gates on the west side (Revelation 21:13).
On each gate is written
one of the Tribes of Israel (Revelation 21:12). These twelve tribes include:
Judah, Reuben, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, Manassah, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Zebulon,
Joseph, Benjamin (Revelation 7:4-8).
The streets in the City
are made out of pure solid gold (Revelation 21:21).
There is no need for a
sun, for the Glory of God, and the Lamb, lights all of Heaven (Revelation
21:23).
There are no shadows in
Heaven. James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or
shadow of turning.”
Only those whose names are
written in the Lamb’s Book of Life may enter into the City (Revelation 21:27).
God will wipe away all
tears from our eyes, and there will be no more crying or sorrow (Revelation
21:4). Neither will there be any more death or pain (Revelation 21:4), for the
former things are passed away.
There will be no sickness
or disease there, for the leaves of the trees are for the healing of the
nations (Revelation 22:2).
Not only will the Father
wipe away our tears, but He will also wipe away Jesus’ tears too (as He sorrows
and weeps over lost souls on a regular basis).
The day will come when
there is a new Heaven and a new Earth (Revelation 21:1).
There is no Temple there,
but there is a Throne Room. The Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the Temple
(Revelation 21:22).
In Heaven, there are
churches to gather and worship in, but not like a Solomon’s Temple. The Holy of
Holies (with the Ark of the Covenant, Mercy Seat and Menorah) is located in the
Throne Room (Hebrews 9:12, Revelation 1:4,12,13,20, 2:1, 3:1, 4:5).
From the Throne of God and
the Lamb proceeds the pure River of Water of Life, clear as crystal (Revelation
22:1). It flows down into the valley.
In the middle of the
street, on either side of the river, are trees of life. These trees bear fruit
every month of the year (Revelation 22:2). The leaves of the trees are for
medicine and healing of the nations (Revelation 22:2).
Wherever the river flows,
it brings healing, restoration and refreshment (Ezekiel 47:9).
This river of God also
speaks of the Anointing of the Holy Spirit. There are different levels of the
Anointing in Heaven, just as on Earth. First, the river is ankle deep, then
knee deep. Then it is waist deep. Then the waters are over the head and you are
swimming, and being carried by the current down the river wherever it flows
(Ezekiel 47:3-7). There are trees of life on both of the banks of the river.
Heaven is the place of the
ultimate abundant life a person can experience. Jesus said in John 10:10, “I
came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full,
till it overflows)” (AMP).
Heaven is a place of many
joys and gladness. If someone is brokenhearted on Earth, or who has emotional
and mental problems, they will come into complete healing and restoration in
Heaven because of so much love, joy and peace, and the quality relationships
with others.
Heaven is also known by
the names “Paradise” (Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 12:4; Revelation 2:7) and
“Eden” (Isaiah 51:3; Ezekiel 36:35). It will be beautiful and majestic beyond
description in the natural, but also those names will imply that a person’s soul
would be satiated like Paradise and Eden. Heaven is a place of pleasures
forevermore. It is a place of delight and beauty.
Psalms 16:11 says, You
will show me the path of life. In Your Presence is fullness of joy; at Your
right hand are pleasures forevermore (NKJV).
The original Garden of
Eden was preserved by God in the nether parts of the Earth, and was transferred
to Heaven (Ezekiel 31:16). In Heaven, we will get to walk in that Garden of
Eden, where Adam and Eve had fellowship with God.
In the midst of the
Paradise of God is the Tree of Life (actually, there are many Trees of Life in
Heaven). Those who overcome in this life will be allowed to partake of the Tree
of Life in Heaven (Revelation 2:7).
Trees of Life are also
mentioned as being planted on either side of the River of Life (Revelation
22:2). Revelation 22:14 says, “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that
they may have right to the Tree of Life, and may enter in through the gates into
the City (KJV).”
The Tree of Life spoken of
in the Book of Revelation is an emblem of the joys of the celestial Paradise
(Easton’s Bible Dictionary).
The “Tree of Life,” became
a common poetic simile to represent that which may be a source of great
blessing (International Standard Bible Encyclopaedia). In Scripture, a Tree of
Life is connected to wisdom, long life, healing and health, joy, immortality
and blessings that never end.
In Heaven, there shall be
no more curse (Revelation 22:3).
The worship in the Throne
Room goes on day after day. There is singing, dancing, celebration, musical
instruments played, choirs singing, kneeling, bowing, clapping, lifting up holy
hands, waving palm branches, glory hoops and banners, laying prostrate on the
floor in holy reverence, running, leaping, skipping, jumping for joy, shouting
and sometimes a holy hush or silence. There is the prophetic.
The seven lamps (Menorah)
burn before the Throne at all times (Revelation 4:5). This is also in reference
to the Seven Spirits of God, which are explained further in Isaiah 11:1-4:
1.
Spirit of the
Lord
2.
Spirit of Wisdom
3.
Spirit of
Understanding
4.
Spirit of Counsel
5.
Spirit of Might
6.
Spirit of Knowledge
7.
Spirit of the
Fear of the Lord
Many theologians say that
the Seven Spirits of God are seven characteristics of the Holy Spirit. While
that is true, Kat Kerr who has been to Heaven’s Throne Room, says that the
Seven Spirits of God are actually seven Spirit Beings.
The Throne is made of
emerald (Revelation 4:3), and positioned on a platform of sapphire (Exodus
24:10; Ezekiel 1:26, 10:1). A rainbow encircles the Throne (Revelation 4:3).
Cherubim (beasts) guard and minister before the Throne (Revelation 5:6,8). On
both sides of the Throne are seated 24 elders (Revelation 4:4,10; 5:6,8; 11:16).
We will wear gold crowns
in Heaven, as well as the 24 elders (Revelation 4:4). There are at least 24
different kinds of crowns mentioned in the Word of God.
Crown of
Life
(James 1:12 KJV) – “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has
been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to
those who love Him.” Revelation 2:10b NKJV “Be faithful until death, and I will
give you the crown of life.”
Crown of
Righteousness (2 Timothy 4:8 KJV) – “Henceforth there is laid up for me a
crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at
that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
Crown of
Glory
(1 Peter 5:2-4 NKJV) – “Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving
as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but
eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to
the flock; and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of
glory that does not fade away.”
Crown of
Splendor
(Isaiah 62:3 NIV) – “Thou shalt also be a crown of splendor in the hand of the
LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.”
Crown of
Rejoicing
(1 Thessalonians 2:19 KJV) – “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of
rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His
coming?”
Crown of
Beauty
(Isaiah 61:3 NIV) – “To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the
oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a
spirit of despair.”
Crown (wreath or
garland) of gracefulness (Proverbs
4:8-9 AMP) –
“Prize Wisdom highly and exalt her, and she will exalt and promote you; she
will bring you to honor when you embrace her. She shall give to your head a
wreath of gracefulness; a crown of beauty and glory will she deliver to you.”
Crown of eternal
blessedness (1 Corinthians 9:25 AMP)
– “Now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temperately and
restricts himself in all things. They do it to win a wreath that will soon
wither, but we [do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness] that cannot
wither.”
Crown of
Loving-Kindness and Tender Mercies
(Psalms 103:4 NKJV) – “Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you
with loving-kindness and tender mercies.”
Crown of Conquering (Revelation 6:2 NKJV) – “And I looked, and behold, a
white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to Him, and He
went out conquering and to conquer.”
Crown of Victory (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NKJV) – According to Dr. David
Jeremiah, the imperishable crown is a crown of victory. “And everyone who
competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a
perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.”
Crown of Goodness (Psalms 21:3 NKJV, 103:4-5 AMP) – “For You meet him
with the blessings of goodness; You set a crown of pure gold upon his head.”
“Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies,
and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy. Who satisfies your mouth
[your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so
that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle's [strong, overcoming, soaring]!”
Crown of a Virtuous
Woman (Proverbs 12:4 NIV) – “A wife
of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay
in his bones.”
Crown of Flourishing (Psalms 132:18 AMP) – “His enemies will I clothe with
shame, but upon himself shall his crown flourish.”
Crown of Riches and
Wisdom (Proverbs 14:24 AMP) – “The
crown of the wise is their wealth of Wisdom, but the foolishness of
[self-confident] fools is [nothing but] folly.”
Crown of Children’s
Children (Proverbs 17:6 KJV) –
“Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are
their fathers.”
Crown of the Bride and
Bridegroom (Song of Solomon 3:11
NKJV) – “Go forth, O daughters of Zion, and see King Solomon with the crown
with which his mother crowned him on the day of his wedding, the day of the
gladness of his heart.”
Crown of the High
Priest (Exodus 29:6 AMP) – “And you
shall put the turban or miter upon his head and put the holy crown upon the
turban.”
Crown of Holiness unto
the Lord (Exodus 39:30 NKJV) – “Then
they made the plate of the holy crown of pure gold, and wrote on it an
inscription like the engraving of a signet: HOLINESS TO THE LORD.”
Crown of the Anointing
Oil (Leviticus 21:12 AMP) – “Neither
shall he go out of the sanctuary nor desecrate or make ceremonially unclean the
sanctuary of his God, for the crown or consecration of the anointing oil of his
God is upon him. I am the Lord.”
Crown of Ruling and
Reigning (2 Kings 11:12 AMP) – “And
Jehoiada brought out the king's son and put the crown on him and gave him the
Testimony [the Mosaic Law]; and they proclaimed him king and anointed him, and
they clapped their hands and said, Long live the king!”
Crown of Majesty (Esther 2:17 KJV) – “And the king loved Esther above
all the women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the
virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen
instead of Vashti.”
Crown of Triumph in
Battle (1 Chronicles 20:2 AMP) “David
took their king's crown from off his head and found that it weighed a talent of
gold and that precious stones were in it. It was set upon David's head. He
brought also very much spoil out of the city of Rabbah.”
Crowns of Worship that the 24 elders cast down to the Lamb of God who
sits upon the Throne (Revelation 4:4,10-11 NKJV) – “Around the throne were
twenty-four thrones, and on the Thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting,
clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads.” “The
twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him
who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created
all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.”
Heaven is a very wealthy
place. We will be given mansions to live in (John 14:2). When this Scripture
verse says “In My Father’s house”, the Father’s house is all of Heaven, plus
exceeding provision for every one of His children.
We will be given rich
white robes to wear in Heaven, plus everyday rich garments to wear (Isaiah
61:10).
We will recognize and know
others in Heaven, and they will recognize and know us too (Luke 16:20-25).
When a saint graduates to
Heaven, the reunion with loved ones is glorious. Many saints have large dining
rooms in Heaven that seat over a hundred guests, so that they can have family
reunions, as well as entertain.
Our pets go to Heaven and
live on our property and in our mansion. Even they wear little white robes and
they worship Jesus.
In Heaven, rainbows issue
out of a person’s countenance (the rainbow is the glory of God). Rainbows even
issue out of our pets too.
There are so many kinds of
rainbows in Heaven. They come in all shapes. There is the arched rainbow like
we on earth know it, then there are horizontal rainbows and vertical rainbows.
Rainbows reflect off of buildings, the streets of gold, bodies of water,
bridges, etc. Rainbows issue out of the Throne Room. It’s the glory of the
Father.
The beautiful fragrance of
the Father permeates all of Heaven. If you’ve ever breathed in the fragrance of
the Lord, it is life transformational. The fragrance contains the Shekinah
Glory itself. The aroma is almost intoxicating, in a positive kind of way. The
aroma is the scent of frankincense, myrrh, cedar, floral scents, and spices.
In Heaven, there will be
majestic mountains, beautiful valleys, forests, lakes, rivers, streams, hills,
waterfalls, trees of all kinds, exotic flowers and even a desert.
In Heaven, there are
ground vehicles, RV’s, motorcycles, jets, planes, helicopters, trains, buses,
ships, boats and other modes of transportation.
In Heaven, your mansion
and property is designed uniquely for you. If you are a painter, then you will
have your own studio. If you are a musician and songwriter, then you will have
your own music studio and chapel to have people over at your mansion. If you
are into golf, you will have your own golf courses on your property, and often
it is changed in order to keep the game exciting. If you are into horses, you
might have 100 of them with the best of stables.
Most residents of Heaven
have built-in swimming pools in their backyard.
Heaven is an exciting
place for children, as well as adults. Heaven has waterslides, theme parks,
roller coasters, community pools and other fun places. At one community pool
for children, it is enclosed with many windows to have light shining in. One
whole wall is covered in stones, with a large cross in the center. It sort of
reminds you of a church sanctuary.
Heaven has the arts and
entertainment, but it is very clean and wholesome, and appropriate for the
whole family. Heaven has movies (that are clean and for the whole family to
watch), as well as animal shows. What we consider to be wild animals are very
tame and meek in Heaven. Children can pet the lions, tigers, bears, wolves and
other animals.
Heaven has grocery stores
and shopping malls. Everything is free, but you can’t just take something out
of the store. You have to go through a check-out line.
Your mansion will be
designed to your specifications and taste. It will also be furnished with the
kinds of furniture and décor that you like. Jesus takes pleasure in giving each
of His children a unique mansion of their own. There are large showrooms in
Heaven that gives people ideas of how to renovate or add to their mansion.
There are babies and
children in Heaven. Some are born in Heaven, while other babies are there
because they were aborted or miscarried.
In Heaven, families dwell
together in the same mansion (or they can have multiple mansions). The husband,
wife and children all live together, as well as their pets.
We will eat and drink in
Heaven. There are bakeries and restaurants, as well as grocery stores. Kat Kerr
said that the cinnamon rolls are as large as a plate.
In Heaven, everyone will
have an assignment, but it will be something they love doing, are good at, and
it doesn’t seem like toil. If you were a lawyer on earth, you might work in the
Court Rooms of Heaven. If you were a minister on earth, you will be a minister
in Heaven, except reach a larger audience and have a heavier anointing on your
life.
In Heaven, there is media,
radio, television and satellite (except much more advanced than it is on
earth).
There is a geographical
part of Heaven that is like a Silicon Valley. High tech executives work there
and create new technology. Heaven is much more sophisticated in technology and
computer systems than earth is.
There are libraries and
book stores in Heaven. There are schools for children.
In Heaven, there are
warehouses of spare body parts, intended for people here on this earth. When an
organ in their body shuts down, angels can access these spare body parts and
put them in your body. In the days ahead, we will see and hear of more creative
miracles taking place.
In Heaven, we will live in
divine health, and wealth.
Heaven has colleges and
universities. There are Bible Colleges, but also universities that teach other
majors. Everyone will attend Bible College in Heaven to learn the basic
principles of the Word of God.
Heaven has multiple kinds
of musical instruments in Heaven. The choirs and orchestras sound so glorious
when they begin to worship God in song and instruments. Heaven has some
instruments that we don’t have on this earth. Heaven has pianos, keyboards, organs,
guitars, bass, cellos, violins, violas, harps, and all kinds of stringed
instruments. Heaven has trumpets, shofars, trombones, flutes and all other
kinds of wind instruments. Heaven has drums, tambourines and all kinds of
percussion instruments.
In Heaven, people can sing
octaves above and below what they could sing on the earth, and they are in
perfect tune and harmony.
There are angelic choirs
and musicians, as well as choirs for the saints.
Heaven is a place of beauty,
peace, rest, joys and great rewards. There is no hard toil in Heaven or
back-breaking work.
We will have new bodies
that will never get sick, break down, get old or die.
All throughout eternity,
we will be drawing closer and closer to Jesus our Savior, and coming to know
Him more and more intimately in spirit and soul. Jesus is the center of our
joy. He is our everything.
If you should die, do you
know for certain that you would go to Heaven to be with Jesus? You can know for
certain. Jesus died and rose again to give you eternal life. You just need to
accept and receive Him into your heart and life, and make Him Lord of your
life. Just pray this simple prayer with me, and you will be born again:
Dear Lord Jesus, I invite
You to come into my heart. Be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy
Spirit. Wash me clean by Your Blood. Thank You for saving me. I am now born
again and redeemed. Help me to live for you all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
Where is Jesus right now?
Do you feel Him in your heart? You are now born again and have become a new
creature in Christ Jesus. You are accepted in the Beloved. Heaven is your
eternal home. I would encourage you to get involved with a good Bible based, Spirit
filled church where you can grow in your faith. God bless you!
