Chapter 1
Healing Scriptures – Old Testament
Exodus 15:26 I am the LORD that healeth thee [Jehovah Rapha]. This is
the verse where God reveals Himself as Jehovah Rapha (the Lord who heals you).
The Old Testament was written in Hebrew and Chaldea. In the original Hebrew
text, the Jewish National Name of God “Yahweh or Jehovah” is translated into
the English as “LORD” (all caps). The Hebrew word “rapha” means: “healing,
cure, mending, stitching up, medicine, physician, repair, to be made whole, to
invigorate.”
Exodus 23:25-26 Worship the LORD your God, and His blessing will be on
your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, and none will
miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span.

Deuteronomy 28:1-13
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the
voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I
command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all
nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou
shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the
field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground,
and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy
sheep.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be
when thou goest out.
7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be
smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee
before thee seven ways.
8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and
in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land
which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath
sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and
walk in his ways.
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the
name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy
body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the
land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give
the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand:
and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou
shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto
the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe
and to do them.

obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and
the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware
unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the
prison to them that are bound. To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and
the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn. To appoint unto

Malachi 4:2 But unto you that
fear My Name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings.
The word “wings” in Malachi 4:2 is, according to the Hebrew definition,
referring to the hem, border, edge of the garment, such as of the priestly robe
or the fringes of a prayer shawl.
In the New Testament, Matthew tells of the account in Matthew 9:20-22 of
a woman who had an issue of blood (hemorrhaging) for 12 years and had spent all
she had on doctors and was not any better. She heard that Jesus was in town.
She said to herself: “If I might just touch the hem of His garment, I shall be
made whole.” She spoke in faith, then took action and pressed through the
crowds. When she made it to Jesus, she touched the hem of His robe or the
prayer shawl He was wearing, and when she did, she was instantly healed of her
affliction.
Jesus felt virtue (healing power) go out of him and asked who touched
him. Then the woman told her whole story to Him and all those around her ...
about how she had suffered with this affliction for 12 years and was only
growing worse, she had spent every dime on doctors but was not any better, but
that now she was healed and whole through the power of Jesus Christ.
Other passages mention that more people were healed when they touched
the hem of Jesus’ garment. See Matthew 14:35-36 and Mark 6:56.
Jesus’ robe signified His Priestly authority. The priestly garment
symbolizes a mantle of the Anointing of the Holy Spirit. He is our Great High
Priest from the Tribe of Judah in the order of Melchizedek (which is a Heavenly
and eternal Priesthood).
The prayer shawl represents being wrapped in all the promises of God
that are legally ours through the Covenant we have with God. One of those promises is healing and health.
