Names and Titles of Jesus

Volume 20

Tabernacle = When Jesus said that He was the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6), He was referring to the Tabernacle. The Way is the Outer Court, the Truth is the Holy Place, and the Life is the Holy of Holies.

Tabernacle Entrance = Door of white linen with blue, red and purple sewn in. Represents the four Gospels and the entrance to salvation. Purple speaks of the Gospel of Matthew and was written to the Jews to portray Jesus as King of the Jews. Red speaks of the Gospel of Mark and represents the shed Blood of Jesus. It was written to the Romans. Jesus is seen as the suffering servant. Blue speaks of the Gospel of John, which was written to all, and it portrays Jesus as being the Divine Son of God and God manifest in the flesh. The white linen speaks of the Gospel of Luke, which was written to the Greeks. It portrays Jesus as being the universal God-Man (fully God and fully Man). White speaks of purity and righteousness.

Tabernacle Brazen Altar = The place of animal blood sacrifice. The place of suffering and death. The Brazen Altar was made out of brass, which represents judgment.

Tabernacle Laver = The Laver was made out of the mirrors of the women. It represents water baptism, your heart and mind being sprinkled from an evil conscience, washing your hands (deeds) and feet (Christian walk) several times a day, and especially before entering the Holy Place. Mirrors represent looking intently into the Word of God, and as we do, we are changed into Christ’s likeness.

Tabernacle Door = Represents the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues.

Tabernacle Holy Place – Menorah = Also known as the Golden Candlestick with seven lamps. Seven speaks of totality, perfection, fullness and completion. The Menorah gives light, and Jesus is the light of the world. The seven lamps represent the seven days of creation, Sabbath Day, seven Feasts of Israel, seven doctrines of Christ in Hebrews 6:1-2, seven Spirits of God mentioned in Isaiah 11:2-4, seven Horns and Eyes in Revelation 5:6 that correlate with the seven Spirits of God, seven churches mentioned in Revelation 2-3 and other significant sevens in the Bible.

Tabernacle Holy Place – Table of Shewbread = The bread and wine represent Holy Communion or the Eucharist. The bread represents Jesus’ body which was broken for us. The wine represents His shed Blood on Calvary for the remission of our sins and for healing in our body, mind and soul. Jesus is portrayed as the Bread of Life.

Tabernacle Holy Place – Altar of Incense = The incense filled the room with smoke, and the aromatic spices ascended to God’s Throne as a sweet-smelling fragrance. The incense represents the praise, worship and prayers of the saints.

Tabernacle Veil – The Veil separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies. Only the High Priest could enter into the Holy of Holies once a year on the Day of Atonement. The Veil represents Jesus’ body and flesh. We can only have access to the Father through Christ.

Tabernacle Holy of Holies – Mercy Seat = The Mercy Seat was a slab of gold on top of the Ark of the Covenant. The blood of animals was sprinkled on the Mercy Seat for the remission, propitiation and atonement for the sins of the whole nation and that of the priests. After Jesus died on the Cross, He went into Heaven’s Throne Room and sprinkled His own Blood on the Mercy Seat, for eternal atonement of sins for the whole world.

Tabernacle Ark of the Covenant – It was a box, like a coffin, made out of choicest wood, and it contained Aaron’s Rod that budded, the Ten Commandments and a jar of Manna. Two cherubim with long outstretched wings overshadowed the Ark of the Covenant. The Ark represented God’s Power and Presence. The Holy of Holies is the place of access to the Father, and the Shekinah Glory. Jesus is the only way to the Father.
