Root of Bitterness
Ephesians
4:29-32
29 Let no corrupt
communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of
edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 And grieve not the Holy
Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and
wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all
malice.
32 And be ye kind one to
another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake
hath forgiven you.
This
message will deal with having a root of bitterness. The Word says that it
defiles many.
If
the root has had a chance to grow for a long time, like for many years, it is
very difficult to pull out the root. By the grace of God, the Lord is able to
dig that deep root out of your life if you ask Him to do that deep work in you.
If
the root has barely sprung up, then you can decide that you are not going to
react to a situation and be bitter about it.
We
all go through circumstances that are unfair. We felt wronged and let down and
disappointed.
Don’t
let unforgiveness, anger, rage and bitterness destroy you.
It
happens to all of us from time to time. Unfair things happen in our life, or we
have to go through setbacks or the death of a loved one, or losing a child, or
coming into financial devastation.
Things
happen in this life that are unfair. But we can choose to forgive and not allow
bitterness to contaminate our heart and to sour us. Sometimes in life we have
to drink out of a bitter cup. That is how it is on this earth.
But
we can choose to be bitter or better.
Maybe
you were abused growing up, or maybe you went through a bitter divorce and lost
the kids.
Maybe
your kids were taken from you and you missed out on being there to see them
grow up.
Maybe
you hate living in the geographical area you live in or the residence you live
in, and feel bitter because you feel trapped and stuck there and don’t have the
money to get out and move somewhere better.
People
can feel bitter over different things.
The
Bible says that if you allow a root of bitterness to spring up, then it will defile
you in your spirit and soul.
Even
though you may be in much sorrow and pain, don’t be tempted to allow bitterness
into your heart.
It’s
not impossible to remove the root of bitterness, but like a tree it’s roots go
deep and spread out making it very difficult to get rid of the bitterness.
While
the root is still small, when going through an unfair situation, deal with that
root of bitterness immediately and yank out the root, so that your whole life is
not defiled and it ruins the quality of your future.
The
first step to removing roots of bitterness is to choose to forgive whoever hurt
you or failed you or disappointed you.
Also,
you have to get help from a counselor or trusted friend to help you overcome the
anger and rage and disappointment or betrayal you feel.
Don’t
allow rage and anger, bitterness and unforgiveness to ruin the rest of your
life. Don’t go around with a chip on your shoulder.
Deal
with the unresolved mourning and grieving you are going through from some loss
that took place in your life.
Turn
your heartache over to the Lord and let Him help you to let go of anger, rage,
bitterness and unforgiveness and wrath.
Walking
in those bitter fruits contaminates many and it will block your prayers from
being answered.
Deal
with those toxic emotions today and don’t let the roots get any deeper in your
soul.
In
this life, all of us deal with offense. Somebody hurt us or failed us, or let
us down. Maybe they betrayed us, or we felt disappointed or rejected.
Don’t
allow the anger and rage you feel to get out of hand and cause trouble in your
life. Don’t allow it to defile you. Get rid of all bitterness and strife out of
your life.
Then
you will have sweet peace and joy in your life, and happiness.
Most
of us have been through unfair situations in our life, but we can make the
decision to be bitter or better.
Examine
your heart today to see whether there is unresolved anger and rage, bitterness
or unforgiveness.
Deal
with it immediately and don’t let it get out of hand.
Sometimes
when setbacks come into our life and we go through unfair situations, then we
are tempted to be angry and bitter towards God.
Whether
you are bitter towards a human, or towards God, you have to deal with your
anger and rage and come to a place of healing and recovery in your life so you
can move forward in life.
If
you never deal with your feelings, then you will remain bitter and stuck.
Don’t
give the devil a foothold in your life.
Today
admit your feelings to the Lord and repent of harboring bitterness and
unforgiveness.
Unforgiveness
can lead a person into ending up in hell when they die and turned over to the torturers
(demons who are ruthless).
It’s
not worth it to hold on to unforgiveness.
You
may be dealing with grief, mourning, losses and sadness, or some other unfair
things, but let go of it and move on with your life.
When
it comes to losing children, that is one of the hardest things to go through
and causes so much pain.
Maybe
you feel bitter and angry over a divorce, or over being abused as a child
growing up. Everyone has their own story to tell.
Even
though you are deeply hurting, and feel so much pain and grief and sorrow, don’t
allow the devil to have a foothold in your life by allowing unforgiveness and
bitterness to enter into your heart and defile you.
Weeping
may endure for a night (temporary season), but joy comes in the morning.
Examine
your heart today and make sure your heart is pure and clean.
Prayer of
Salvation
It
is God's will that no one should perish (end up in hell), but that ALL should
come to repentance.
For God so loved this world that He gave His only begotton Son,
that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God did not send His Son into this world to condemn the world,
but that the world through Him would be saved.
The thief (Satan the devil) comes only for to kill, steal and
destroy. But Jesus has come to give us life, and life more abundantly, until it
overflows.
I urge you to come to the Cross today and receive Jesus as your
Savior and Lord. He will wash away all your sins and make you as clean and
white as fresh snow.
Please do not put it off for another time in the future. I urge
you to not delay. Come to the Lord today and give Him your heart and life. He
will save, and heal you and make you whole.
Please do not delay, because on this earth there are no
guarantees that a person will wake up in the morning. Also, you could be
driving on the highway and be involved in a major collision and be instantly
killed. You may be flying in a jet or aircraft and the plane crashes and
everybody is killed.
A person does not know the exact date that they will die. But
the fact is that every person will eventually taste of death (unless you are
translated to Heaven which is very rare and highly unlikely, although it could
happen for a few that is. it happened for Enoch, Elijah and
Elisha).
Come to the Cross today and do not delay. Time is of the
essence. If you should die not knowing Christ, then you would perish and end up
in hell. Eternity is a very long time. Do not play games with your salvation or
takes unnecessary risks.
Just pray this prayer and mean it with your heart:
Dear Lord Jesus,
I receive You as my Savior and Lord. I give my life over to You.
I believe that You died and rose again, and that if I call on the Name of the
Lord I shall be saved.
I accept you into my heart right now, and confess that You are
Lord and have risen from the dead and forever live to make intercession for
me.
Thank You for washing my heart pure and clean and making me
whole, and for giving me peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Thank You that now I am a new creature in Christ Jesus. The old
has gone and the new has come.
And there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
who walk not after the flesh (carnality and sin), but walk after the
Spirit. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, I believe you got born again and are
now heaven bound and will be with the Lord forever and have eternal life. Your
sins are now forgiven. You are accepted in the Beloved.
I would encourage you to find a good Bible based local church to
help you grow in your faith, to learn the Word of God, to praise and worship
Him, and to have fellowship with the saints.
Serving Christ is the best decision you will ever make.
Only Jesus can satisfy your soul, and only He can heal your
heart and make you whole.
He will give you peace you never knew, and sweet love and joy,
and Heaven too, for only Jesus can satisfy your soul.
God bless you!!!
