Benefits of Giving Tithes and Offerings
1.
So that there would be “meat” in the House of God (Malachi 3:10). Meat
refers to the teaching and preaching of the Word of God, supply, spiritual and
physical nourishment. It also refers to literal food for the priests to eat.
The Gospel is free, but the means to get it out is not free. It takes finances
to get the Gospel out and to run a church or ministry. If there is no finances,
then the service of the priests is interrupted because they have to have
salaries to support their families and to cover monthly living expenses.
2.
God will open the windows of Heaven for you (Malachi 3:10). The windows
of Heaven are in reference to God’s favor, and no blessings being withheld. It
paints a picture of God pouring a water bucket down to earth and the water
never ceases. The Adam Clarke's Commentary says that the windows of heaven
being opened means that God would give us rain and fruitful seasons, so that
our barns and granaries would not be able to contain the abundance of our
harvests and vintage.
3.
God will pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to
receive it (Malachi 3:10). Literally, “empty out to you,” give to you fully,
holding back nothing (Barnes' Notes). This promise was a reaffirmation of the
obedience-blessing relationship specified in the Mosaic Law in Deuteronomy
28:1-14 (Bible Knowledge Commentary).
4.
God will rebuke the devourer for your sake (Malachi 3:11). Insects and
plagues will not destroy your crops (assets). Your vines shall blossom and come
to full maturity. Satan is the devourer who comes to steal and abort everything
from you, but Jesus came to give us abundant life (John 10:10). For those who
tithe and give offerings, the Lord will break off the curse and your appliances
will last for a long time, your car will not break down, your finances will not
be drained by continual expenditures and fees.
5.
All nations shall call you happy and blessed (Malachi 3:12). They shall
see that a peculiar blessing of God rests upon you, and your land shall be
delightsome; like Paradise, the garden of the Lord (Adam Clarke's Commentary).
6.
You shall be a delightsome land (Malachi 3:12). Isaiah 62:4 says, “You
[Judah] shall no more be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land be called
Desolate anymore. But you shall be called Hephzibah [My delight is in her], and
your land be called Beulah [married]; for the Lord delights in you, and your
land shall be married [owned and protected by the Lord].” AMP
7.
You shall also give unto the priest the first of your dough, that he may
cause the blessing to rest in your house (Ezekiel 44:30). This was a separate
offering, in which the people gave their firstfruits portion of their bread
dough directly to the priests, and then all of their food and household was
blessed. This is practiced in many churches today, especially black churches,
where in addition to tithes and offerings, people give a portion directly to
the pastor or bishop. Many have become multi-millionares by applying these
principles of giving.
8.
You shall lend unto many nations and not borrow (Deuteronomy 15:6). The
borrower is servant to the lender (Proverbs 22:7).
9.
You and your descendants shall be blessed for generations to come. An
example of this is when Abraham paid tithes to Melchizedek in Genesis 14:20
(xref Hebrews 7:8-11). Abraham became very wealthy and powerful, and had the
favor of God upon his life. In Hebrews 7:9-10, it says that Levi, who received
tithes, paid tithes hundreds of years before through Abraham, being from the
loins of Abraham. Melchizedek was a type of Christ, and the Bible teaches us
that when we give tithes, the lesser one gives to the greater one, and it’s as
if we are giving to the Lord directly.
10.
We give so that we will receive back in return and have our needs met.
Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in
full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and
poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get
back” (NLT). Philippians 4:19 (AMP) says, “And my God will liberally supply
(fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ
Jesus.”
11.
God wants us to learn how to cooperate with one of the laws of the
universe that He has set into motion so that our lives would be successful,
which is the principle of seedtime and harvest. Genesis 8:22 says, “While the
earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter,
and day and night shall not cease.” Seedtime and harvest works for every area
of life, including money. If we need finances, we sow financial seeds. If we
need love, we give love to others. If we need friends, we become a friend to
others. If we want a specific crop, we sow seeds at the specified time of the
year of sowing so that we will reap the desired harvest.
12.
You reap what you sow, and more than you sow. The Bible talks about
reaping 30-fold, 60-fold and 100-fold, depending on the conditions of the soil
and the environment (Mark 4:8,20).
13.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians
4:10-13). This promise was given by the Apostle Paul in the context of giving
generous offerings. Paul knew what it was like, by experience, to be in want
and what it was like to abound. Abounding is far greater.
14.
He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. Proverbs 11:24-25
says, “There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who
withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty. The generous soul will
be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.”
15.
Whoever helps the poor, the Lord will sustain him on his sickbed and
restore him from his bed of illness (Psalms 41:1-3).
16.
If you give generously, you will reap a bountiful harvest. Second
Corinthians 9:6 says, “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap
also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”
17.
The generous help the poor and lend unto the Lord. Proverbs 19:17 says,
“He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will pay back what he
has given.”
18.
Everything the righteous and generous man undertakes shall prosper [and
come to maturity]. Psalms 1:1-3 says, “Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous,
and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly
[following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and
inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest]
where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. But his delight and desire are in
the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the
teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by
night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams
of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not
fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].
AMP
19.
The Lord takes pleasure in our prosperity. Psalms 35:27b says, “Let the
Lord be magnified, which has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.” Heaven
is a place of unprecedented wealth, and so God is used to being surrounded by
so much prosperity. He desires for His children to also live in wealth. We will
live in wealth in Heaven, but God desires for us to begin experiencing it here
on this earth.
20.
The Lord will sustain you during times of famine and economic hardship.
Psalms 37:19 says, “They will not be disgraced in hard times; even in famine
they will have more than enough.”
21.
God is able to make all grace abound towards you. Second Corinthians 9:8
says, “And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing)
come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances
and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid
or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable
donation].” AMP
22.
God wants us wealthy so that His covenant would be established in the
earth. Deuteronomy 8:18 says, “But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your
God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His
covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” AMP
23.
Your generosity is credited to your heavenly account. In Philippians
4:17, the Apostle Paul says: “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit
that may abound to your account.” On Sid Roth, “It’s Supernatural”, he
interviewed a man who has seen angels, and he testified that when tithes and
offerings are taken, angels stand close by with a clipboard and notepad, and
record the name of the person or married couple giving the offering, the date
the offering was given, the amount, the church or ministry the offering was
given to, and the attitude of the heart in which the offering was given. If
someone cheated God out of the 10% of tithe which belongs to Him, and gave less
than 10% in tithes, then their giving was recorded as a zero. If they gave with
a bad attitude (even if they gave a generous offering), or gave with an
attitude of pride to be recognized, then it is recorded as a zero, as if they
gave no offerings at all. When giving, it’s not only the amount that matters,
but the condition of the heart that God is looking for.
24.
God loves a cheerful giver. It brings His heart great delight when His
children give with a pure heart, and do it with joy. Second Corinthians 9:7
says, “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of
necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”
25.
Giving tithes and offerings pleases God. Philippians 4:18-19 says,
“Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the
things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well
pleasing to God. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches
in glory by Christ Jesus.” Giving is likened to burning incense on the Altar of
Incense in the Holy Place. The sweet smelling aroma ascends to the very Throne
of God, for which He is well pleased. God gave everything to us, and He just
asks for a portion of it.
26.
When you give to a particular church or ministry, you partake of the
grace that is upon that ministry. If there is a grace for healing, then you
will experience more healing, or God will use you to impart healing to others.
If there is a grace for evangelism, and lost souls saved, then you will partake
in that. If there is a grace for faith, wealth or any other thing, you will see
it show up in your life.
It is God's will that no one should perish (end up in hell), but that ALL should come to repentance.
For God so loved this world that He gave His only begotton Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God did not send His Son into this world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him would be saved.
The thief (Satan the devil) comes only for to kill, steal and destroy. But Jesus has come to give us life, and life more abundantly, until it overflows.
I urge you to come to the Cross today and receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord. He will wash away all your sins and make you as clean and white as fresh snow.
Just pray this prayer and mean it with your heart:
Dear Lord Jesus (if you are not able to call him Lord yet, then just say "Jesus")
I receive You as my Savior and Lord. I give my life over to You. I believe that You died and rose again, and that if I call on the Name of the Lord I shall be saved.
I accept you into my heart right now, and confess that You are Lord and have risen from the dead and forever live to make intercession for me.
Thank You for washing my heart pure and clean and making me whole, and for giving me peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Thank You that now I am a new creature in Christ Jesus. The old has gone and the new has come.
And there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh (carnality and sin), but walk after the Spirit. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, I believe you got born again and are now heaven bound and will be with the Lord forever and have eternal life. Your sins are now forgiven. You are accepted in the Beloved.
I would encourage you to find a good Bible based local church to help you grow in your faith, to learn the Word of God, to praise and worship Him, and to have fellowship with the saints.
Serving Christ is the best decision you will ever make.
God bless you!!!
