Grace, Mercy and Favor of God

Grace, Mercy and Favor

#1 The Hebrew definition of grace: kindness, favor, acceptance, mercy, to bestow, move to favor by petition, giving thanks.

#2 The Greek definition of grace: goodwill, loving-kindness, favor, benefit, gift, joy, liberality, pleasure, the divine influence upon the heart.

#3 For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

#4 The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Grace (Hebrews 10:29, Zechariah 12:10). He will impart grace to you.

#5 Grace is God’s unmerited favor that He bestows upon us.

#6 Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Genesis 6:8) and God saved him and his family, and animals, from the flood.

#7 Moses found grace in the sight of God (Exodus 33:17) and God knew him by name, and God’s presence was with Moses.

#8 Ruth found grace in the eyes of Boaz (Ruth 2:10) and he married her, provided and protected her and also took care of Naomi.

#9 Esther found grace and favor in the sight of King Xerxes, and he chose her to be Queen, and she saved the Jews from annihilation. Esther 2:17

#10 Speaking of the Messiah, in Psalms 45:2, His words are filled with grace.

#11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. Psalms 84:11

#12 Wisdom and Grace are connected. Wisdom will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you (Proverbs 4:9).

#13 Whatever task God has called you to do, He will give you the grace to accomplish it. Therefore, no mountain, however high, can stand before Zerubbabel! For it will flatten out before him! And Zerubbabel will finish building this Temple with mighty shouts of thanksgiving for God's mercy, declaring that all was done by grace alone. Zechariah 4:7

#14 And the child Jesus grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon Him. Notice that grace and wisdom is interconnected. Luke 2:40

#15 Jesus is the God of grace and truth (John 1:14,16). While He is gracious and merciful, He also shows us the truth about ourselves.

#16 Grace is not a license to sin (Jude 4), but rather grace is the empowerment to not sin.

#17 Grace (favor) and peace (shalom) be multiplied to you…He has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:2-3). Notice that grace and peace go together.

#18 Out of His (God’s) fullness, we have received abundance of grace…one grace after another, spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift. John 1:16, Amplified

#19 Grace gives you the inner strength to go through any situation, or season in your life, with composure and confidence.

#20 We have to enter into that grace by faith. Entering into grace is entering into God’s Sabbath rest.

#21 Grace is God’s “staying power” (He keeps you standing strong, persevering and not falling or going backward).

#22 If God has called you to do something, then you have the power and ability to do it—not on your own, but by grace.

#23 Inheriting the promise is the outcome of faith and depends entirely on faith, in order that it might be given as an act of grace (unmerited favor). Romans 4:16 AMP

#24 Grace and faith go together.

#25 Grace and Patience go together. God will give you grace and patience to inherit your promises, and to go through delays.

#26 One reason for delay in inheriting your promises is not stepping into grace (which leads to frustration). Frustration is a faith killer. You have to hold onto faith in order to inherit the promises of God.

#27 What God told you in the beginning, when the promise was first given, still stands.

#28 To enjoy grace is to enjoy favor.

#29 God, You shall arise and have mercy on Zion, for the time of favor has come (Psalms 102:13). The set time, the proper time, the due season to reap. Don’t faint. It’s the right time, your time.

#30 God has given you grace for the race He has for you to run. This grace was given in abundance and given freely.

#31 You can grow in grace and in the knowledge of Christ (2 Peter 3:18). How do you determine how much grace He’s given you? Look back and see how far He’s brought you.

#32 Grace is favor. Favor is the willingness of others to use their power, ability and influence to help you.

#33 Grace gives access to favor. Favor will open doors that no man can shut.

#34 Favor will promote you. It gives you preferential treatment. Favor gives you access to glory (Exodus 33:13-14).

#35 The glory of God is the goodness of God.

#36 Never underestimate the power of grace. There’s a grace that’s been bestowed on us to get the task done of why we’re here in the earth.

#37 Grace is favor or kindness showed without regard to the merit of the one who receives it and in spite of what that person deserves.

#38 Grace is one of the key attributes of God (Exodus 34:6). Grace is associated with mercy, love, compassion and patience.

#39 Grace manifests as patience. Patience is remaining the same as you were before the trouble showed up.

#40 It’s by faith that we receive grace (Romans 4:16).

#41 Grace allows you to be preferred.

#42 Through Him also we have our access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God's favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. Romans 5:2 Amplified

#43 Grace = God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense

#44 Become a partaker of His grace.

#45 Grace gives you the ability to stand firmly.

#46 We go from grace, to favor, to glory.

#47 Faith is an accelerator of grace. It makes grace go. If you need more grace, exercise your faith (spend faith like currency). Keith Butler

#48 Grace manifests itself as power and strength. You can’t work for this. It’s God’s unmerited favor. 2 Corinthians 12:9

#49 Grace will stabilize every weak area in your life.

#50 Grace does more for our weaknesses than for our strengths.

#51 Grace and peace go together (1 Corinthians 1:3, Galations 1:3). Grace gets us to the point where our peace is not disturbed.

#52 God’s grace is multiplied to us by our knowledge of Christ and His Word.

#53 If you find yourself in need of more grace, one way to obtain it is to increase your understanding of God’s Word.

#54 Grace is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8).

#55 God gives us access to grace for enjoying the glory (or goodness) of God. Romans 5:2, Amplified.

#56 With great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. Acts 4:33

#57 The ministry of the apostle is a ministry of grace (Acts 11:23, 13:43, 14:3, 14:26, 15:40; Romans 1:5).

#58 When the apostles ministered the word of His grace, signs and wonders were done by their hands (Acts 14:3).

#59 The word of His grace is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. Acts 20:32

#60 We are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His Blood, through faith.

#61 But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more (Romans 5:20).

#62 Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Romans 6:1-2

#63 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Romans 6:14

#64 “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. And if by grace, then it is no longer by works. Romans 11:4-6

#65 God has given to us grace gifts to build up the Body of Christ (Romans 12:6-8). This includes prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, contributing to the needs of others, leadership and showing mercy.

#66 Paul said “According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation.” 1 Corinthians 3:10

#67 Paul said “By the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10

#68 But as you abound in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us—see that you abound in this grace also. Grace is unmerited favor.

#69 Jesus, by His grace, and being rich, tasted poverty so that we may abound with riches. 2 Corinthians 8:9

#70 God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

#71 “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

#72 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

#73 We were called to ministry by grace (Galations 1:15).

#74 James, Peter and John, those reputed to be pillars, gave me (Paul) and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. Galatians 2:9

#75 The grace of God can be frustrated or set aside (Galations 2:21).

#76 It’s possible to fall from grace (Galations 5:4), but Jesus is there to pick you up and restore you.

#77 God’s grace is not of the mind or soul, but of the spirit. Galatians 6:18

#78 To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. Ephesians 1:6

#84 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Ephesians 4:7

#85 God wants our words and conversation to minister grace, and edification, to the hearers (Ephesians 4:29).

#86 Colossians 3:16 says to sing with grace in your heart to the Lord.

#117 God’s Grace is certainly amazing!

#118 Grace is not given merely to cover up our irreverence and sin; it is given to empower us to serve God acceptably. John Bevere

#119 Grace is not simply leniency when we have sinned. Grace is the enabling gift of God not to sin. Grace is power, not just pardon.

#120 The favor of God is producing recognition, even when I seem the least likely to receive it (1 Samuel 16:22). Kenneth E. Hagin, Sr.

#121 The favor of God is restoring everything that the enemy has stolen from me (Exodus 3:21).

#122 Jesus is both GRACE and TRUTH. Truth without grace is legalism. Grace without truth is lawlessness. A healthy church culture operates in both. Pastor Ron Eivaz

#123 Grace alone, without faith, is dead. Faith alone, without grace, won’t work. We are saved by grace, through faith. We receive everything else Jesus died to give us by receiving it by grace, and applying faith.

#124 Grace means that Jesus has already provided for us whatever we need, just like He provided salvation.

#125 We just have to accept and receive what He has already provided on the Cross. It’s a free gift. It’s our inheritance.

#126 We are an heir of God and joint heir with Jesus Christ. We don’t have to earn it, work for it, toil hard for it, or deserve it.

#127 Salvation is not by our own merit or good works. Grace works for salvation, healing, finances, relationships and anything else in your life that you need from God.

#128 Everything we need, we first recognize that God has already provided it. It’s His favor. It’s a gift. It’s our inheritance. Then we receive what He has already provided for us by faith.

#129 For if many died through one man's falling away, much more did God's grace and the free gift that comes through the undeserved favor of the one Man Jesus Christ abound and overflow to and for the benefit of many. Romans 5:15

#130 For if because of one man's trespass death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive God's overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through one Man Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17

#131 Favor is defined in the Bible as graciousness, kindness, beauty, bestow, implore, grant, shown mercy, entreat, have pity upon, benefit, gift, joy.

#132 Favor also means to bend or stoop in kindness to an inferior.

#133 Favor will take you from the back of the line to the front of the line.

#134 Favor is associated with life and visitation from God (Job 10:12).

#135 Favor is associated with glory (Proverbs 16:15).

#136 Favor is associated with protection (Psalms 5:12).

#137 Favor is associated with joy (Psalms 30:5).

#138 Favor is associated with prosperity (Psalms 35:27).

#139 Favor is associated with mercy (Psalms 102:13).

#140 Favor is associated with salvation (Psalms 106:4).

#141 Favor is associated with wisdom (Proverbs 3:4, 8:5).

#142 A good man shows favor to others (Psalms 112:5).

#143 He that diligently seeks good procures favor (Proverbs 11:27).

#144 A good man obtains favor from the Lord (Proverbs 12:2).

#145 Good understanding gives favor, but the way of the transgressor is hard (Proverbs 13:15).

#146 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favor (Proverbs 14:9).

#147 The king's favor is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causes shame (Proverbs 14:35).

#148 In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain (Proverbs 16:15). Rain signifies glory, no drought or dryness, refreshing, new life, new growth, anointing.

#149 He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord (Proverbs 18:22).

#150 The king's wrath is like the roaring of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass (Proverbs 19:12). Dew speaks of watering the earth, or our soul being satiated, as well as the anointing and presence (glory) of God.

#151 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold (Proverbs 22:1).

#152 He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue (Proverbs 28:23).

#153 Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs (Daniel 1:9).

#154 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus” (Luke 1:30-31).

#155 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men (Luke 2:52). You need favor with God and man.

#156 But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison (Genesis 39:21).

#157 And the patriarchs, becoming envious, sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him and delivered him out of all his troubles, and gave him favor and wisdom in the presence of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house (Acts 7:9-10).

#158 And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be, when you go, that you shall not go empty-handed (Exodus 3:21).

#159 And of Naphtali he said: “O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, and full of the blessing of the Lord, possess the west and the south” (Deuteronomy 33:23)

#160 And the child Samuel grew in stature, and in favor both with the Lord and men (1 Samuel 2:26).

#161 Then Saul sent to Jesse, saying, “Please let David stand before me, for he has found favor in my sight.” And so it was, whenever the spirit from God was upon Saul, that David would take a harp and play it with his hand. Then Saul would become refreshed and well, and the distressing spirit would depart from him. 1 Samuel 16:22-23

#162 Grace is associated with the mercies of the Lord. The phrase “His mercy endureth forever” (KJV) is mentioned 41 times in the Old Testament, and 26 times in Psalms 136. It is repeated 26 times in Psalms 136 to get a message across, to emphasize the mercies and grace of the Lord. The single word “mercies” is mentioned 39 times in the Old Testament, the word “merciful” is used 34 times in the Old Testament, and “mercy” is used 217 times in the Old Testament.

#163 The word “mercy” is used 59 times in the New Testament, the word “mercies” is listed five times in the New Testament, and “merciful” is mentioned 6 times in the New Testament. Hebrews 2:17 says that Jesus is the merciful and faithful High Priest.

#164 The primary Hebrew word used for “mercy” is checed. It is defined as mercy, pity, favor, loving-kindness. The main Greek word for “mercy” is eleeo. It means: compassionate (by word or deed, specially, by divine grace).

#165 Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.”

#166 James 2:13 (NKJV) says that God’s mercy triumphs over judgment.

#167 Grace is unmerited favor. The word “unmerited” is important. It means that grace is not earned; we can't work for grace. Grace is a gift from God to us, pure and simple. James 4:6 in the Amplified Bible says, “But He gives us more and more grace, by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Here's another way you can say that: “He gives us more favor and more anointing.” Keith Butler

#168 The Holy Spirit, Who is the anointing, is also the grace of God, and by faith, we have access into this grace. Grace is also the divine or spiritual blessings of God as is indicated in 1 Peter 1:9-11 and 2 Timothy 2:1 in the Amplified Bible. Keith Butler

#169 Paul had received an abundance of revelation knowledge. Because of those revelations, a messenger, an angel of Satan, was sent to buffet, or to continually strike him. Everywhere Paul went to preach, this angel stirred up trouble for Paul. Finally, Paul went to God three times to ask Him to get rid of this demon. The Lord told Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you.” What was the Lord telling Paul? He was reminding Paul of the revelation he received when he was in the Third Heaven, the revelation of the authority of the believer. Keith Butler

#170 When you have revelation of the Word of God, and when you access that revelation, you get to stand in that grace. Paul got it. In the last chapter of the Book of Acts of the Apostles, Paul was living in his own hired house, preaching the gospel to every man, no man forbidding him. He got rid of that demon! You know what? You have that same power. You have access into the grace of God, into all that grace is. Glory to God! Keith Butler

#171 In 2 Peter 1:1-2 it says, “Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.” One attribute of grace is that it can be multiplied; whatever measure of grace you have working on you can grow. Keith Butler

#172 Grace can be multiplied through the exact, complete, full knowledge of God the Father and of Jesus our Lord. Allow me to say this again: You don't have to work for the grace of God; you can't earn the grace of God. Just receive God's grace and all that it provides. Keith Butler

#173 In Philippians 1:4-7 it tells us that grace can be shared. That is, we can partake of the grace of God that rests on another minister or ministry through partnership. That's what the word fellowship means in verse 5, partnership. When you contribute financially or in service to your church, you become a partaker of the grace that is upon that church. But you have to believe God for the manifestation of that grace in your life. Keith Butler

#174 Wherever you plant money, you get to partake of the grace that is on that individual, you get to partake of that anointing. You can receive the same benefits, because God will count what they do to you. If they win ten thousand souls to the Lord, so have you! Keith Butler

#175 How do you activate the grace of God in your life? One of the first ways to activate the grace of God is through sacrificial giving. Sacrificial giving is different than any other giving, because other giving is giving to what's comfortable. Sacrificial giving is giving until it hurts. This is what the Apostle Paul was talking about in 2 Corinthians, Chapters 8 and 9. The church at Macedonia, in spite of their deep poverty, gave liberally to help another church. Keith Butler

#176 When people have financial needs, they don't need to pull in all their funds. They need to sow seed. When you do this, 2 Corinthians 9:8 says, “God is able to make all grace abound toward you that ye always have all sufficiency in all things may abound to every good work.” When you have “all sufficiency,” you no longer have a need. What happened? Grace was manifested to you in an abounding measure. Keith Butler

#177 The second thing that activates the grace of God in your life is offering thanksgiving to God, no matter what is happening in your life. Give God praise and glory instead of bellyaching and complaining; that's what Satan wants you to do. Philippians 4:4 instructs us to, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, rejoice.” So that means to rejoice when you don't feel like it. Why? Because whatever the problem, it's temporal. It's subject to change. Keith Butler

#178 God will bring you out unless you get over into an area of murmuring and complaining that causes you to get out of faith. Remember, we have access by faith into the grace of God. Whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive (Matthew 21:22). Keith Butler

#179 That brings us to the third thing that will activate the grace of God in your life: believing prayer. We can see an example of this in Acts 4:23-26. When the Sanhedrin Council threatened Peter and company not to pray in the name of Jesus anymore, Peter said you do what you have to do and we'll do what we have to do. We're going to obey God, not man. They went back to their own company and reported what happened. Then they all lifted up their voices to God in one accord and began to pray the solution, not the problem. The solution was based on what they knew God would do. They believed what they were praying. Keith Butler

#180 We also see a couple other things in these Scriptures that will activate the grace of God. Being in one accord, in unity, will manifest the grace of God in your life. So will being bold enough to tell people the outcome of the situation before it happens. In Acts 5:12-13, we see their prayers were answered. Glory to God! Keith Butler

#181 Grace is bigger than your mistakes.

#182 Faith and grace are two very important subjects in the Bible. When you study the Bible, you'll find that both of them operate together. Both Romans 4:16 and Romans 5:1-2 illustrate this connection: “Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace” (Romans 4:16). Keith Butler

#183 Faith gives us access into the grace of God; it is, therefore, important that we understand what faith is and what grace is. The grace of God is available to every believer, but it's accessed by faith. Keith Butler

#184 Faith is the accelerator of grace; it makes the grace of God go in your life. You can't receive anything in the grace of God except through the vehicle of the faith of God. Keith Butler

#185 One definition of “grace” is unmerited favor. Grace is not something you earn by works. In other words, you didn't do something in order to receive the grace of God. Another definition of “grace” is closely related to the first definition: the favor of God. Favor in general gives you access into places where others do not have access. Keith Butler

#186 Faith and grace operate together; faith is the accelerator of grace. Faith accelerates the grace of God in your life. If you need more grace, simply exercise your faith. Keith Butler

#187 Grace will never show up without hope.

#188 The Lord is the God of second, and third, and fourth and more chances. He overlooks our failures. He is the God of mercy, and gives us many chances to repent or to get back on track. His grace is lavish. While He is the God of grace, He also shows us the truth about ourselves.

#189 We are held in the grip of God’s grace, and the devil and no one else can snatch us out of His hands.

It is God's will that no one should perish (end up in hell), but that ALL should come to repentance.

For God so loved this world that He gave His only begotton Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God did not send His Son into this world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him would be saved.

The thief (Satan the devil) comes only for to kill, steal and destroy. But Jesus has come to give us life, and life more abundantly, until it overflows.

I urge you to come to the Cross today and receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord. He will wash away all your sins and make you as clean and white as fresh snow.

Just pray this prayer and mean it with your heart:

Dear Lord Jesus (if you are not able to call him Lord yet, then just say "Jesus")

I receive You as my Savior and Lord. I give my life over to You. I believe that You died and rose again, and that if I call on the Name of the Lord I shall be saved.

I accept you into my heart right now, and confess that You are Lord and have risen from the dead and forever live to make intercession for me.

Thank You for washing my heart pure and clean and making me whole, and for giving me peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Thank You that now I am a new creature in Christ Jesus. The old has gone and the new has come.

And there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh (carnality and sin), but walk after the Spirit.  In Jesus' Name, Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, I believe you got born again and are now heaven bound and will be with the Lord forever and have eternal life. Your sins are now forgiven. You are accepted in the Beloved.

I would encourage you to find a good Bible based local church to help you grow in your faith, to learn the Word of God, to praise and worship Him, and to have fellowship with the saints.

Serving Christ is the best decision you will ever make.

God bless you!!!
