Resist the Devil and He Will Flee
From You!
Beelzebub; Baalzebub: The name given to Satan, and found only in the New
Testament (Matthew 10:25; 12:24,27; Mark 3:22). It is probably the same as
Baal-zebub (q.v.), the god of Ekron, meaning “the lord of flies,” or, as others
think, “the lord of dung,” or “the dung-god.” Easton's Bible Dictionary.
What do houseflies do? They spoil our picnic. They desire to feed on
garbage, our food, or whatever is available; all the while they carry diseases
to infect us.
Comparing demons to flies, they also attack our spiritual food, the Word
of God. They attempt to bring doubt to our faith. They try to spoil our
experiences in our walk with God. Their mission is to disease our mind until
unbelief develops.
There are times flies buzz around the head and try to light in our hair.
That is a definite “Get away from me!” “Why would they do that?” It is a clear
illustration of how demons want to light on our minds and project thoughts. If
the thought is entertained and we keep on thinking that thought, it will become
an action. From there it becomes a deed committed. It all begins with a
thought.
In the Bible, hair represents strength and the anointing of God. Samson
is an example of this. The enemy comes to try to weaken our anointing and
sap our strength. He comes to discredit our witness.
Flies also come to distract. People cannot relax and eat their food when
flies are swarming around. They are so busy batting away flies that they cannot
receive their nourishment. It’s the same way in the spiritual. Demonic flies
always come to cause distractions. They bombard people during the sermon in the
mind, making it difficult for people to receive spiritual nourishment.
Sometimes you just have to ignore the flies and continue eating. Flies are
attracted to food cooking, and swarms will try to get in the house. Flies want
to spoil the food by landing on it and devouring it.
Satan’s objective (like the fly) is to steal, kill and destroy. God’s
purpose is to give life in all its fullness (John 10:10 TLB).
The Message Version of John 10:10 reads, “A thief is only there to steal
and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and
better life than they ever dreamed of.”
What does the WORD say to do to be an overcomer? Using the Amplified
Version Bible, James 4:7 reads, “So be subject to God. Resist the devil (stand
firm against him), and he will flee from you.” Again, using The Message
Version, it reads “So let God work His will in you.” Yell a loud “NO” to the
Devil and watch him scamper.
How can I RESIST:
1.
Swat – to hit with a quick sharp
blow. To oppose actively.
2.
Speak the Word with Power.
3.
Stand firm.
4.
Refuse to cooperate, say “NO.”
5.
Keep from yielding, being
affected by or enjoying the temptation.
Swat: Just as we would swat at a fly, our aim or purpose is to kill it;
but sometimes the fly is so quick it flies away; circles and comes at our food
again. But, we don’t give up and let it spoil our food; we swat again and
again until we conquer the fly and it is dead. That would be considered
actively opposing our enemy.
Speak the Word with Power: Satan approached Eve like a snake
in-the-grass with three temptations. Satan is still using those same
temptations with us today. Likewise he approached Jesus with the same three
temptations.
Temptation 1. The lust of the flesh (food).
Temptation 2. The lust of the eyes (greedy longings of the mind,
emotions and soul).
Temptation 3. The pride of life (make one wise—appealing to the
intelligence which has its center in the spirit).
Jesus is a good example for us to follow. He quoted the Written Word to
overcome Satan. In Luke 4:8, we read that Jesus refused, again backing his
refusal with Deuteronomy 6:13; 10:20. “Worship the Lord your God and only the
Lord your God. Serve Him with absolute single-heartedness.”
In the Amplified Version of the Bible, Hebrews 2:18 reads “For because
He Himself (in His humanity) has suffered in being tempted (tested and tried),
He is able (immediately) to run to the cry of (assist, relieve) those who are
being tempted and tested and tried (and who therefore are being exposed to
suffering).”
Stand Firm: Galatians 5:1 TM: Christ has set us free to live a free
life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on
you. (See also KJV). There may be times when we may have to swat Satan and tell
him to “Be Gone!” We may also have to serve a “Restraining Order” telling him
to stay away from our house, family, finances, health, etc.
Weapons of Warfare: 2 Corinthians 10:4: For the weapons of our warfare
are not carnal (physical weapons of flesh and blood), but mighty through God to
the pulling down (overthrow and destruction) of strongholds.
For God so loved this world that He gave His only begotton Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God did not send His Son into this world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him would be saved.
The thief (Satan the devil) comes only for to kill, steal and destroy. But Jesus has come to give us life, and life more abundantly, until it overflows.
I urge you to come to the Cross today and receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord. He will wash away all your sins and make you as clean and white as fresh snow.
Just pray this prayer and mean it with your heart:
Dear Lord Jesus (if you are not able to call him Lord yet, then just say "Jesus")
I receive You as my Savior and Lord. I give my life over to You. I believe that You died and rose again, and that if I call on the Name of the Lord I shall be saved.
I accept you into my heart right now, and confess that You are Lord and have risen from the dead and forever live to make intercession for me.
Thank You for washing my heart pure and clean and making me whole, and for giving me peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Thank You that now I am a new creature in Christ Jesus. The old has gone and the new has come.
And there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh (carnality and sin), but walk after the Spirit. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, I believe you got born again and are now heaven bound and will be with the Lord forever and have eternal life. Your sins are now forgiven. You are accepted in the Beloved.
I would encourage you to find a good Bible based local church to help you grow in your faith, to learn the Word of God, to praise and worship Him, and to have fellowship with the saints.
Serving Christ is the best decision you will ever make.
God bless you!!!
